PCI Compliance Merchant Notice

FrontStream Payments is aware of the evolving Payment Card Industry (PCI) and in an effort to maintain security for all of our merchants, customers and vendors; we are providing resources, expertise and support to educate and maintain PCI Compliance across the board. In providing quality resources we are pleased to say we are well above the industry average with the number of merchants we serve and maintain PCI Compliant.

Notice:

Effective July 2010, all Property Management Software and Point Of Sale systems must be certified by a third party security auditor and listed as a certified payment application.

Effective now, all merchants are required to be PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) Compliant. The requirement includes completing a Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) regarding the practice of handling credit card information. Additionally, for those merchants utilizing IP terminals and/or POS interfaces, a vulnerability scan must be performed by an approved third party vendor of the Security Council. The list of Approved Scanning Vendors (ASV) can be found at PCI Security Standards.

FrontStream Payments has created a systematic approach to assisting merchants with the complexities of these PCI DSS requirements. We want to assist you by answering common questions and helping to educate you on what your business needs to do.

By July 2010 no new merchants will be permitted to begin processing without utilizing a PCI compliant terminal. Fortunately, the American National Standards Institute and Visa/Mastercard bank associations permit older non-compliant credit card machines to continue operating until the merchants decide to upgrade or the terminal simply fails due to age. In effect, older terminals are “grandfathered” so that PCI Compliance standards can be implemented without major disruptions to businesses. A PCI compliant terminal is designed so that cardholder data is not retained in the terminal after merchants submit their daily batches for processing.
